MV Museum

The Morgan Learning Center allows us to dream up new programming that meets the needs of our island community and creates space for connection and growth. The past year saw many MV Museum visitors engage with history in new ways within our versatile classroom setting. Our youngest visitors loved coming to meet Clifford at the Museum this year. Many children found welcoming space on the storytime rug in the classroom before embarking to find the Big Red Dog with family members or teachers in tow. Island elementary students continued to visit the Museum in record numbers to begin learning journeys. For students, the learning center is a welcoming and transformative place where they can view and touch items from the past, engage in experiments and reenactments, and feel comfortable asking questions and interacting with museum educators. Middle and high school students have found meaningful moments within our classroom walls as well. Examining archival materials up close, hosting the first Brazilian Youth conference, or debriefing after conducting research are just some of the ways our older students have utilized the Morgan Learning Center. A wide range of public events took place in our classroom in 2024: Discovery Days summer program was based in the Morgan Learning center for five busy summer weeks, monthly 4-H meetings took place, upcycling workshops, Nancy Luce Day, and Halloween on the Hill all made good use of our classroom’s versatility. The classroom continues to be a hub from which so many enduring and enriching experiences are possible within our Museum.
